Aferdita Gjoni is Albanian. She is married and has two children. She has worked for Mary Ward Loreto Foundation for 7 years, leading the Advice and Service Centre operating in the region of Lezhe, Albania. She has a bachelor degree in English and has studied Health Psychology. She also has an MSc in Gender and Development. Her working experience of 20 years consists of a variety of duties and responsibilities with different international organizations including Caritas Switzerland, USAID, and World Vision and lately with Mary Ward Loreto Foundation. Aferdita is coordinating and managing many projects including human development and also has successfully implemented an education project operating at national level. Her main work objectives are to work with local partners and directly with women and families with a main focus to combat gender based violence, and human trafficking, and to promote better application of human rights in the area. For the past three years she has engaged in SL projects doing what she loves – to work with schools and youngsters to promote active citizenship and address democratization of learning process and to promote social change.
